Just a small word of warning. Be VERY careful with the handling and
disposal of Bacillus subtilis cultures, especially those that are
sporulating. Once B. subtilis gets loose in a lab its very difficult to
get rid of and will give you major problems with contamination of plates,
fermenters etc. We used to grow B.subtilis in chemostats. Inevitably some
got loose. It took us two days of thorough disinfection (wash all surfaces
with bleach or alcohol etc.) before the problem was solved.
