Water plants are essential parts of the lifecycles of two parasitic worms - Fasciola hepatica and Fasciolopsis buski. Cercaria are produced by snails and then form metacercaria on these plants. When ingested by man, they form mature flukes. Steve Meshnick University of Michigan
