In our lab (500 bed hospital) we do not currently do acid fast stains on
gastric asparites. I've not seen other labs whose CAP inspections I have
parcipated in offering acid fast stains on gastric asps either.
Two questions:
1. Is there any reason not to do acid fast stains on gastric asparates?
2. Of those who do acid fast stains on this specimen, are you comfortable
with the results you are producing---are you matching your culture results
etc.
