The key to knowing if you are in the right concentration ranges and time
of treatment is to check "% kill" (i.e. % of the population that doesn't
survive the treatment) and look for a marker which is easy to find (such
as auxotrophy or a drug resistance) to ensure you are really mutating.
Each bug may require some juggling to find the optimum mutation
conditions.
