For the freeze drying of bacteria, Edwards High Vacuum in England used to make
a device to automatically constrict the glass ampoules prior to final drying
and sealing under vacuum. Unfortunately they no longer make the device. I
believe it consisted of a small electric motor to turn the ampoule and a gas
jet to melt the glass. We constrict our ampoules by hand which is very time
consuming.
Does anyone know of a manufacturer of an automatic or semi-automatic device for
constricting glass ampoules?
Thank you for any assistance.
