Perhaps the most simple way for you to do the experiment would be for you to
grow your fungi on an agar medium and then cut plugs from the growth and place
these right side up onto agar plates which have been lightly seeded or spread
with the indicator bacterium. If antibiotic activity is present, you should
be able to observe a distinct zone of inhibition. Also, using plugs would
allow you to sample for the production of activity from the same fungal
culture with time. Good luck.
