Replica-plating of bacterial colonies

I have been using Whatman 541 filters and a glass coffee jar. Put about 3
Kimwipes on top of the coffee jar and secure them with a rubber band. Place
541 filter on top of kimwipes (with orientation mark),using a forceps. Then
press spread plate down on filter. Hold filter again with forceps and
remove master spread plate. Put replica plates on top of the filter to
transfer colonies.
This method also has the advantage that after transfer of colonies, the
filter can be incubated on the surface of another plate and then used for a
dot blot.
