strep and penicillin resistance

Have your doctor prescribe Clindamycin.  It works better when the patient
is having recurring strep infections.  S. pyogenes has yet to develop
resistance, but other organisms (S. aureus) in the throat may produce beta
lactamase making amoxicillin ineffective.

Group A strep is susceptible to Erthyromycin 80% of the time.
