E. coli sheen on EMB agar

The green sheen is a function on pH and is not specific for E.coli.  It
can also occur with other organisms that ferment the lactose in the
medium.  I have seen Klebsiella pnueumoniae strains that produce
pronounced green sheening on EMB.  

Good luck in your education.  I wish I would have had access to the the
'net during my years at college.
