I have a postdoctoral position open to study capsule genetics in Actinobacillus
pleuropneumoniae and lipooligosaccharide phase variation in Haemophilus somnus
These organisms are veterinary pathogens and related to the human pathogens of
the same genera. The appointee will be involved in developing shuttle vectors,
and procedures for improved recombination/mutagenesis in these bacteria. The
overall goal is vaccine development and understanding novel mechanisms of bac-
terial pathogenesis. The individual will join a strong group of individuals
working in molecular biology, immunology, and infectious diseases. Funding is
negotiable and available for up to 3 years. Blacksburg, VA is a college town
located near to and between the Blue Ridge Mtns and the Appalacian Mtns. The
