Microbiology
Pending approval and funding, the Department of Biology at the
University of San Francisco invites applications for a tenure-track
position in Microbiology at the Assistant Professor level anticipated
to begin in the Fall of 1995.
Department: Primarily undergraduate program with MasterÕs degree
program. The Biological Sciences at USF include programs in Biology,
Biochemistry, and Environmental Science, and faculty interests include
cell and molecular biology, genetics, immunology, ecology, marine
biology, plant physiology, entomology, human anatomy and physiology,
and environmental science.
Teaching Responsibilities may include, inter alia, general microbiology
(for majors or nursing students), advanced courses in microbiology with
an emphasis in ecological microbiology, microbial remediation,
microbial physiology or related fields, participation in the General
Biology course for majors, and participation in the General Education
Foundations of Natural Science course for non-science majors.
Qualifications: University teaching experience, evidence of
scholarship, an earned doctorate by Fall 1995 and an understanding of
and commitment to support the mission of the University are required.
The candidate will be expected to guide MasterÕs-level graduate
students and to develop an independent and ongoing research program.
