Microbial Genetics Position
The Department of Biology at Sangamon State University invites
applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship position beginning
August, 1995. Ph.D. in Genetics, Microbiology or related area is required.
Strong emphasis on excellence in teaching and commitment to research
involving undergraduate and graduate students.
Teaching responsibilities in the undergraduate core curriculum
include microbiology and a capstone genetics course and advanced
microbiology and molocular biology topics at the graduate level. Candidate
is expected to contribute to the molecular focus at the graduate level and
to supervise undergraduate and master's research. Experience in small
college teaching is desireable and an interest to develop excellence in
teaching is expected. Participation in the upper division general education
sequence which is both interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary is

Building provides well-equiped laboratory space, greenhouse, vivarium and an
electron microscopy laboratory with both transmission and scanning
