I find the following textbook very attactive:
Lansing M. Prescott, John P. Harley and Donald A. Klein:
Microbiology. WCB. Second edition. 1993
It has elements of Bacterial Systematics.
There are 2 recent books in the specialist field:
M. Goodfellow and A.G. O'Donnell: Handbook of New Bacterial
Systematics. Academic Press 1993
Fergus Priest and Brian Austin: Modern Bacterial Taxonomy.
Chapman & Hall. Second edition 1993.
Then you have Bergey's (allways usefull) - Procaryotes (too
expensive) - IJSB (the key journal) - .... and many more.
Not very easy to select one single book !
