Does anyone know a good enzyme (and source!) for degrading yeast
(Saccharomyces cerevisiae) cell walls to make protoplasts? We have
had a go with Sigma lyticase (mixture of stuff from Arthrobacter), which
certainly lives up to its name (i.e. clobbers the protoplasts after making
them). Once upon a time there was helkicase from snails, which is supposed to
be good (not in Sigma catalogue). [that was helicase!]
