James,
I don't know of a way to stop the automatic naming of files in Seqlab,
but it is fairly easy to change the text in figures after they have been
created. The figure files are actually only text files, which you can
manually edit, and then redraw. For example,
###############################################################
%> more pileup.figure
!!FIGURE 1.0
.!
.! Figure output from "PILEUP" September 20, 2001 14:49
.!
.fo 0
.vp 0 150 0 100
.wn 0 150 0 100
.nc 1
.cl
.vp 0 150 0 100
.m 75 100
.to 6
.nc 2
.ch 2.5
.fo 0
.pt PILEUP of: @fofn September 20, 2001 14:49
[etc. etc.]
###############################################################
Editing the last line shown above would change the text you see at the
top of the figure output (which was what you were wanting to change I
believe. Once you've made the changes, simply run the 'figure' command
(from the command line), or load the amended file back into the Seqlab
output manager.
Hope this helps
