Just another data point: it worked as expected when I just tried it with
MacX 1.5 and SeqLab 10, ie pressing the key labelled "delete" deletes the
preceding character, at least in the file selection dialogs. It also works
fine on a Linux X server.
I haven't made any changes to the standard install w.r.t. key configs.
