Bioinformatics Support - Oxford
Oxford Molecular (OM), Ltd. is seeking an additional member for
its Oxford-based technical support staff to provide assistance
to the worldwide community of biologists that use the GCG Wisconsin
Package for sequence analysis. Oxford Molecular is producing
commercial products combining GCG's proven strengths in analyzing
and searching central, shared data with OM's popular desktop
software which will enable researchers to gain enterprise-wide
access to the most comprehensive set of powerful
bioinformatics tools and a central database source.
The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in molecular
biology/biochemistry or related field, computer experience in
a unix environment, and strong interpersonal and communication
skills. Familiarity with the GCG Wisconsin Package is expected.
Primary duties will be providing technical assistance to users
and system managers via phone, fax and e-mail. Support issues
are varied and diverse, and cover the range from system
management to scientific experiment. The technical support
people represent OM to the world and in turn present the problems
encountered by users and managers of the software to the development
staff. Training will be provided at the GCG Headquarters in
Madison, Wisconsin.
The perfect candidate will have the following skills and knowledge

+ Experience and knowledge in molecular biology
+ Demonstrated written and verbal skills
+ Extensive computer experience and interest
+ Problem-solving abilities and a logical mind
+ Superior organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple
priorities
+ Patience and politeness to assist users, including those who speak
English as a second language
+ Motivation spurred by interacting with scientists on a daily basis
