Dear GCGers:
Does there exist in GCG version 9.0, or has anyone written, a shell
program that will get and reformat the SwissProt update file available on
the NCBI ftp server? This would avoid having to wait for a full release
and then either download the full release or wait another month to three
months to get the current version on the GCG CD-ROM.
Also, is there anyone else out there that is strapped for disk space
and maintains a partial DNA database? We are thinking of eliminating the
EST-STS part from the local database and letting the users use the NCBI
BLAST server for this part.
