We're defining the way the world looks at life sciences.
We're the new life sciences company at Monsanto.
And even more focused on the future. That's why our entire organization,
from agricultural biotechnology to pharmaceuticals to food ingredients,
is dedicated to life sciences. Now, we can answer the questions, needs
and demands of our ever-changing planet. After all, the world's
resources are finite, but our vision for the future is limitless.
Bioinformatics/Information Scientists
We seek several bioinformatics scientists who will be responsible for
the implementation and support of computer based bioinformatics tools as
they are applied to applications in the agricultural and pharmaceutical
business sectors. These positions require motivated individuals who in
addition to supporting the bioinformatics tools are also capable of
maintaining an individual "cutting edge of science" research program.
World class research facilities are available for work that has synergy
with business goals.
We require scientists with advanced degrees in an appropriate scientific
area with thorough knowledge of molecular cell biology and computational
skills including GCG, UNIX, Perl Scripting, Web Development (HTML,
Java), SQL, and C++. Must posses solid interpersonal and written
communication skills. Job Code: INFO1
Bioinformatics Scientists
We seek several highly motivated and experienced bioinformatics
scientists to work closely with genome scientists and drug discovery
project teams in our research center. This will involve providing
bioinformatic analysis to address therapeutic challenges in arthritis,
cardiovascular disease and oncology. You will also provide expert
bioinformatic analysis of gene sequence information, array-based gene
expression studies, and protein structure information while analyzing
large complex data sets using Blast, Smith-Waterman and other GCG tools.
This will include writing small custom programs in Perl, C++, Java or
Oracle as needed. Candidates will also be expected to develop
independent research projects within Searles therapeutic focus.
We require Ph.D. level scientists with two years postdoctorial
experience or the equivalent with expertise in sequence and protein
structure similarity searching, data mining and presentation, biological
interpretation of sequence information and scientific programming in a
UNIX operating environment. Good communication and writing skills are
essential. Job Code: BIOS2
Postdoctoral Fellowships in Bioinformatics
We seek several postdoctoral fellows in bioinformatics who can expect
significant interactions with other bioinformatics scientists as well as
genome and drug discovery scientists. As part of the program, fellows
will be challenged to develop a broad background in sequence analysis,
programming and database administration and are encouraged to publish
and present their results at meetings. Postdoctoral fellows may pursue
creative new ideas in sequence recognition software, data visualization
tools and data presentation techniques or pursue research opportunities
which use bioinformatics and database mining to better understand the
underlying mechanisms of human disease.
We require a Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Molecular Biology or
Genetics. Familiarity with UNIX systems and a working knowledge of
Blast, GCG and other bioinformatics programs is essential and the
ability to program in Perl, C++ or Java is a plus. Job Code: PBIOS
