A25909 sounds like an accession number originating from gb_pat (patented
sequences section of Genbank) and I think a few of these overlap accession
numbers assigned to protein sequences.
What is worse is the *recycling* of accession numbers as was done in the
transition from the first to the second edition of the Haemophilus
influenzae genomic sequences (~10000 bp files). This caused all the
references in SwissProt to become incorrect, as well as all the database
searches done by users before the second edition. Definitely not kosher!
