GCG database reorganization - the time has come

I think I read somewhere that GCG may be incorporating
Thure Etzold's SRS software for handling Genbank & other
databanks (at least as far as keyword searches).  That would
be a good step, since it doesn't require reformatting, and its
indices are small.  Using the standard distribution format
rather than requiring reformatting of the data would be a
very big improvement for GCG.

However, we will just have to get used to buying bigger and 
bigger disks... it will be a while until the biologists have
read all the sequences in the biosphere.
