It doesn't do any harm either to point out that vendors in general are
interested in SALES. In the molecular modelling arena there are companies
which still support previous OS's versions, in particular, as hardware
vendors adopted the very unfortunate habit that an OS upgrade involves a
hardware upgrade (memory, disk), which is, depending on the available
budget, impossible. Keep in mind, though, that GCG announced the supported
OS's very early on at times where the OS vendors still fight with the
stability of their current verions! Giving you an example, we haven't in-
stalled one vendor's 'new' version yet which is pending for the last year
and has a couple of oddities, and the most recent hardware model announced
requires even a more sophisticated, next version... (which is, unfortunate-
ly, even capable of backupporting binaries etc).
