you can do the following:

on unix, %cat file_name file_name_page_2 >single_file

on VMS, $append file_name_page_2 file_name
(this will put the page_2 to the end of the other file)

This remind me a question I have been wonderring about for while. GCG graphic files (EPSF) allways give two separate files on our unix computer, just like yours, but the first file actually is an empty file. I had to delete the empty file and rename the *_page_2 to a shorter filename. It is really not a pleasant thing to do. Any better solution to this?
