With the current version of GCG, loading the binaries directly from CD allows
GCG to run "as is" with out requiring the compilers. The compilers are needed
to customize or fix bugs. That will probably work with v 8 also. However,
you will need X software on your terminals to take advantage of the new GUI
that v 8 will employ. Contact GCG for additional info (help at gcg.com).
