I currently have the staden package (may '92 ) and Fasta (March '92 1.6c) installed on an Sparc IPC. Connected to this is a cdrom, currently using the EMBL cd's, and it works quite well.
I recently came across GDE, which looks a very useful set of programs. However, after consulting the GDE documentation i do not appear to be able to use the cdrom (especially for Blast) with out any hassle.
The question is does anybody know of a "minimum amount of hassle route" to be able to access the databases through GDE and retain the use of Staden and Fasta
