                 POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP AVAILABLE

        *****************************************************
        * DEVELOPMENT OF THE ProDom PROTEIN DOMAIN DATABASE *
        *****************************************************

        A post-doctoral fellowship is available for the development of
the ProDom protein domain database. This database comprises automatically
generated families of homologous domains (Sonnhammer & Kahn, submitted).

        The project will involve one or more of the following :

        * the design of a novel sensitive homology search tool ;
        * the development of probabilistic models of sequence alignments ;
        * the study of protein phylogeny ;
        * exploiting ProDom for molecular modelling.

        The project will be carried out in the "Laboratoire de Biologie
Moleculaire des Relations Plantes-Microorganismes" near Toulouse, France.
Computer and networking facilities on the Toulouse INRA campus are excellent.

        Applicants must have a strong background in bio-computing. They can be
biologists with interest in protein structure that are proficient in
computing (mastering of the C language is essential). Alternatively, they
can be mathematicians or computer scientists sufficiently interested in
molecular biology to know the basics of protein structure.

        Interested applicants should send their CV, list of publications
