The Swiss node of the European Molecular Biology network (EMBnet) has a
position available starting from October 1st, 1993. The successful
applicant will work on
- Organisation, Monitoring and Optimization of biological database
transfers, updates, and maintenance.
- Structure and Documentation of the 'Joe Biologist' working
environment.
- Participation in general and system administration issues as well as
user education and training.
The applicant must have a degree in biology, and solid knowledge in
workstation or departmental computers running either UNIX or VMS operating
systems. Knowledge of a programming language like C or Fortran is
advantageous but not a prerequisite. Experience in biocomputing like
sophisticated usage of a molecular biology program package (e.g. GCG)
is essential. The position is currently limited to 1 year and funded by the
Swiss National Science Foundation (NF).
