Dear Colleague:

This is the latest information on Interlec 21 (21st International Lectin
Meeting, May 23 - 28, 2004, in Shonan Village, Japan).

Interlec meetings, only one series of international scientific forum
focused on lectin research, have been held every two years around the
world, and made a great contribution to the progress of glycobiology. We
are very happy to be able to organize such an authoritative meeting for
the first time in Japan.

Thanks to many scientists who have submitted excellent abstracts, we were
able to make a splendid program. Please visit the website
http://www.gak.jp/interlec21. We are now convinced that the meeting will be
the most exciting one ever held.

We believe that you can also enjoy the meeting from a variety of aspects.
In addition to high scientific standard of the meeting, the venue of the
meeting, Shonan Village Center, is very nice to stay. It is built on a
height located in the countryside of Miura peninsula, close to some
important cities such as Tokyo, Yokohama and Kamakura, and also to one of
the most popular spa area Hakone. You can also admire the excellent view
of Mount Fuji behind the Suruga bay when the weather is fine. The center
will afford every facilities you need, conformable environment and good
foods. During the meeting, we have many plans which you can enjoy both
scientifically and socially.

You will certainly have opportunities to get acquainted with many
lectinologists and establish friendship. We also plan to offer
participants from foreign countries opportunities to be able to touch
Japanese unique culture, completely different from western one, and get
some new views on human activities, which may help to produce a new idea
for scientific research.

If you have not yet decided, we would like to encourage you strongly to
make registration for this attractive and important meeting. Registration
is very easy if you open our website

Looking forward to welcoming you to the meeting.

Sincerely yours,

Kenichi Kasai
Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Interlec 21.
