Hi,

I was wondering if it would be possible to notify your group about this related
meeting?

Thanks in advance,

Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s
GLYCOMICS
Carbohydrates in Drug Development
May 5-6, 2003 • University Park @ MIT Hotel • Boston, Massachusetts

SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD
Dr. Prabhat Arya, National Research Council of Canada
Dr. Ram Sasisekharan, MIT
Dr. Frank Schweizer, The University of Manitoba
Dr. Peter H. Seeberger, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Dr. Ganesh Venkataraman, Momenta Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Carbohydrate modification of proteins and lipids is the functional fine-tuning
of these molecules. It is not surprising therefore that errors in
glycosy-lation have severe implications and are found associated with common
diseases such as cancer and diabetes.Carbohydrates have historically been
desirable targets for drug intervention but success stories have been limited.
Recent advances in synthetic and analytical methods are facilitating a better
understanding the role of glyco-protein and carbohydrates in many cellular and
signaling process-es and paving the way for carbohydrate drug discovery. This
conference will showcase many of the technical advances in glycobiology and
carbohydrate chemistry that have been made recently along with several case
studies of applications in drug development ranging from carbohydrate based
compounds to modifications of recombinant bio-molecules for drug delivery.

TOPICS TO BE COVERED:
High-Throughput Methods for Analyzing Carbohydrate and Glycoprotein Structure
Methods for Synthesizing Carbohydrates including Enzymatic and Organic
Carbohydrate-Based Drugs • Carbohydrates in Drug Delivery
Carbohydrates as Biomarkers for Disease • Glycosylation

GLYCOMICS TUTORIAL: MONDAY MAY 5, 9-12:00
