FEBS advanced course Glycoconjugates: Versatile Structures and =
Intriguing Functions will take place in Opatija, Croatia, from September =
24th to September 30th 1999. Opatija is a beautiful all seasons resort =
on Adriatic coast. Excellent facilities for academic and social =
activities and conformable accommodation will be provided for both, =
lecturers and students.

The course is designed for graduate students and young scientists =
looking for highly expert, up-to-date information on the structure and =
function of glycoproteins and glycolipids. Distinguished lecturers of =
the course program will present the current knowledge on biosynthesis, =
structures, and function of glycoconjugates, on strategies in studying =
glycan sequences, their versatility and modifications. Applicability of =
the fast growing knowledge on glycoconjugates will be thoroughly =
discussed.=20

The number of participants at the course is limited to 50 and early =
applicants are welcome. Participants will be selected on the basis of =
academic and scientific merit (grades, publications, references) and =
relevance of the course to their current work. Some experience in =
glycobiology is preferred, but not required. All participants will be =
invited to introduce themselves and their work during the Course by =
presenting a poster.=20

A limited number of FEBS Youth Travel Fellowships will be available to =
cover the course fee and travel expenses for selected candidates. The =
deadline for YTF applications is April 1st 1999. Please state clearly in =
your application form whether you are also applying for a FEBS Youth =
Travel Fellowship. Applications for a FEBS YTF-grant should be =
