Hercules Incorporated, a world leader in water-soluble polymers,
paper chemicals, resins, food gums, and non-woven fibers, is seeking
two postdoctoral associates to join our R&D team engaged in
bioconversions of natural materials.
A Ph.D. in organic chemistry or biochemistry and relevant synthetic
experience is needed. Responsibilities include synthesis of
carbohydrates and oligosaccharides by chemical and enzymatic methods,
purification and separation of intermediates and end-products, and
analyses and characterization (through chemical and spectroscopic
techniques). Familiarity with enzyme isolation, purification, assays,
and reactions is essential. Familiarity with the physical chemistry,
structure and design of proteins is highly desirable.
Duration of position is two (2) years maximum and is available
immediately. The location of the Hercules Research Center is suburban
