Haem... neuraminidase is not a metabolic inhibitor, it is an enzyme that
hydrolyses the terminal non-reducing neuraminic acid residues (sialic acid
to make it short).
Alternatively, you can use Benzyl N-acetyl-alpha-D-galactosamide, a
competitive inhibitor of N-acetyl-alpha-D-galactosaminyl transferase,
which catalyses the first step in the biosynthesis of most O-linked
glycans.
The product is available through Oxford Glycosystems (distributed by COGER
in France : fax= 01.45.32.71.04)
