The Ohio State University - Department of Chemistry. Applications are invited for a
postdoctoral research position in bioorganic chemistry in the research group of Professor Todd
Lowary. The research project will involve the synthesis of oligosaccharides and oligosaccharide
analogs. Applicants should have, as a minimum, a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry. Ideally,
the candidate should also have experience in the area of synthetic carbohydrate chemistry.
Familiarity with modern NMR techniques is also essential.Beneficial, but not required, would be
a basic understanding of biochemical processes. The possibility exists for the successful
applicant to gain experience in the synthesis of peptides and glycopeptides. The position will
be open on January 1, 1997; however, delaying the start date by two to three months is
possible. The initial appointment will be for one year; a second year is available by mutual
