The above answer is correct but omits to mention that you can ask your
news administrator to set a longer expiration period for each
newsgroup locally. Typical settings are in the range of 5 - 10 days
(much faster for alt.* USENET groups generally). You might want to
ask your news administrator to keep bionet newsgroup messages longer
than other domains.
If a message has disappeared, you can search the BIOSCI/bionet
archives by gophering to net.bio.net or via Mosaic to URL
gopher://net.bio.net/.
The GLYCOSCI/bionet.glycosci newsgroup is archived in its own
directory.
