Postdoctoral Fellowship in Ecology of Antibiotic Resistance
Position is available for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work with an
interdisciplinary group interested in microbial ecology of antibiotic
resistance within the food-animal environment. Our current research
addresses the potential for transfer of drug resistance from microbiota
on farm to food-borne pathogens like Salmonella that contaminate the
farm production environment. A postdoctoral fellow is currently needed
on project that examines the diversity of drug resistance genes and
mobile genetic elements within the gene pool of the farms microbiota as
well as the potential for transfer of these resistances to human
Starting salary is $28,000/year, with benefits. Employment is
guaranteed for one year and extended an additional year with suitable
progress. Experience in molecular biology is desirable, but applicants
with strong background in general microbiology and microbial physiology
will also be strongly considered.
