The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology (IGP) at Uppsala University (igp.uu.se) has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on genomics, cancer and molecular diagnostics. One goal of IGP is to promote a close collaboration between clinical and pre-clinical researchers. Research is presently conducted in the areas of medical and clinical genetics, clinical immunology, bioinformatics, pathology, tumor biology and vascular biology. The department is also integrated with the units of clinical genetics, clinical immunology and clinical pathology-cytology at Akademiska Hospital, Uppsala. IGP is involved in many educations at the Medicine and pharmacy domain but is also involved in teaching at the Science and technology domain. IGP provides a well-developed infrastructure for studying molecular medicine. The yearly turnover is around 400 million SEK and there are approximately 680 employees or affiliated personnel, of which more than 100 are PhD-students.

The applicant should have MSc degree in a relevant area (e.g. Bioinformatics, Computer science, Computational biology, Biostatistics). Documented practical experience of programming, and statistical and bioinformatics analyzes of genetic/genomic data is considered a strong merit. Documented oral and written proficiency in English is required. Good recommendations from previous supervisors / teachers is a requirement.
