The research in my laboratory is focused on understanding the mechanism of thoracic aortic aneurysm. A postdoctoral or research specialist position is now open for projects aimed at investigating the mechanism and potential treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysm. Research will be performed utilizing a variety of in vitro and in vivo approaches.

The applicant is required to function in an independent fashion and be responsible of his/her own research project. In particular, he/she will be expected to be able to design experiments, initially under the PI's guidance, conduct experiments, process and analyze data, and potentially develop new and/or revise research methodologies. In addition, the candidate will be expected to present his/her own work both at lab meetings as well as scientific conferences and to critically analyze literature relevant to the research. The successful candidate will be expected to be proficient at scientific writing, and be able to prepare research papers. While funding is currently available for the position, the candidate will be strongly encouraged to apply for his/her own funding, under the PI's guidance.

Additional work related tasks, similar to but not specifically outlined above, may be needed in position and while study continues to progress.

A doctoral degree and familiarity with basic laboratory techniques in molecular biology field is required for this position. Previous experience in the field of vascular biology, stem cell biology and in vivo mouse models is a plus, but not required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

The candidate will be expected to be familiar with bioinformatics, basic molecular and cell biology techniques, and in vivo mouse model studies. Additional expertise in stem cell biology and vascular biology is a plus.
