Our client is a leading clinical reference laboratory currently seeking a
Cytogenetic Supervisor / Manager for technical and scientific oversight of
their laboratory located in Bergen County, New Jersey. Accountabilities for
this individual will be to:
Maintain laboratory schedule and the day to day activities of assigned
staff; Supervise daily workflow of the cytogenetic laboratory, providing
guidance and assistance, and resolving technical issues.
Participating in establishing job requirements and goals; Identify training
needs and assure education appropriate in cytogenetic and FISH analysis;
Evaluate the competency and performance of all testing personnel and assure
that the staff maintains their competency to perform test procedures and
reporting and monitoring results promptly, accurately and proficiently
Establish a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed
and the parameters acceptable levels of analytic performance; Assist in
updating and maintaining the laboratory standard operating procedures (SOP
Manual). Review and write SOP's
Monitor the quality control assurance programs for the Cytogenetic lab,
ensuring a safe environment and that all procedures, materials, and
equipment validation are to be documented as required by existing policy;
Review intermediate test results, quality control records, proficiency
testing results and preventive maintenance records.
Requirements for this role are:
5-10 years laboratory exp specifically in prenatal diagnosis (amniotic
cells, Products of conceptions and CVs) and blood analysis.
Bachelors degree or greater in relevant field with specialization in Human
Genetics, cytogenetic and FISH; NYSDOH for a laboratory supervisor in
cytogenetics and FISH credentials; be CG (ASCP) - certified (formerly
CLSp(CG) or qualified as a technical supervisor of cytogenetics laboratory;
Experience in Conventional Cytogenetics, high resolution G banding and FISH
analysis in Prenatal and Postnatal analysis.
