There is no noninvasive method in assessing diffusive function of
lung in laboratory animals. Recently, I daveloped a procedure
which is very similar to DLCO in humans. The procedure is very
simple and noninvasive. The technique will provide the carbon
monoxide uptake by the animal at certain period of time along
with ventilation frequency. I run some experiments using mice and
measured carbon monoxide uptake in normal and anesthetized mice.
It was observed that anesthetic agent reduces CO uptake
significantly in anesthetized mice as expected. If you are
interested about the technique, please e-mail your postal
address. I will be happy to send you all the information about
lung function procedure in laboratory animals.
