We are attempting to build models of fuel homeostasis using systems
modelling software called VisSim. This Windows package (also Unix) is very
user-friendly, so that modelling can now be done by biologists with
knowledge of biological control systems but not much knowledge of higher
math (as opposed to mathematicians with some knowledge of biology). The
group who put us onto this software (still in version 1.x) is headed by
Prof John Hall in Mississippi. They are reknown for their modelling of
cardiorenal control (formerly Arthur Guyton), and have now also begun to
model fuel homeostasis. As you may already have gathered, previous
attempts at modelling fuel homeostasis have been fairly simple, although
some quite comprehensive models of various subsystems, such as ß-cell
electrical activity etc, exist.

We are interested in collaborating with groups who may have models of such
subsystems that can be incorporated into a more broadly-connected models.
