As far as the modelling of the pentose-phosphate pathway is concerned, I 
should like to recommend:

(more experimentally oriented).

R. Schuster, H.G. Holzhutter and G. Jacobasch: Interrelations between 
glycolysis and the hexose monophosphate shunt in erythrocytes as studied on 
the basis of a mathematical model, BioSystems 22 (1988) 19-36.
In this article, control coefficients are calculated (amongst other 
quantities).
