Seems that parentheses are badly broken:
getz '[swissprot-authors:drew* & rice*]' -> 1 entry
getz '[swissprot-authors:(drew* & rice*)]' -> nothing
But the SRS manual offers as an example:
[medline-authors:(wu* & rice*) ! (smith* | jones*)]
so we are apparently using the 'correct' syntax.
