Most of the bionet groups are now moderated to filter out this
spam, including this bionet.software. Sadly the Usenet propagation
of moderation checks has broken down, at least in this case,
where many US news-servers are propagating bionet.* groups as unmoderated
when they are in fact now moderated at net.bio.net (now in the UK).
These include indiana.edu, u.washington.edu, many other US .edu
sites. These spam are not making it into www.bio.net archives.
One option is to have your news server manager process the monthy
checkgroup message in bionet.announce, e.g.
http://www.bio.net/hypermail/bionews/bionews.200109/0000.html
I've asked indiana.edu news host manager to do this, to no effect :(
