Editing Multiple Sequence Alignments

I am looking for GeneDOC like programs for Linux systems for editing
and displaying Multiple Sequence Alignments - I am interested in programs
that will allow one to delete entire columns from alignments for
example (e.g. columns that have gaps for example) 

Whither??
