Dear DNATools user,
EST
An in creasing number of people have realised that DNATools is a quite
useful application for handling small (1 - 10,000 sequences) EST projects.
As a result of the feedback of the many users, dnatools has been gradually
adapted to suit their - and our - needs and wishes. One of the more recent
addition is a handy function for submission of EST sequences to GenBank.
SAGE
The more specialised functions include a large collections of functions for
handling and analysing SAGE (serial analysis of gene expression) data. These
functions have been used extensively in our department recently and are now
quite efficient - and bug-free. Among the functions are facilities for
simultaneous comparison of up to 6 SAGE profiles and mapping SAGE profiles
with EST data. New is the possibility to transfer SAGE data to EST sequence
headers based on SAGEmapping file data - and to generate custom designed
reports/lists.
GENERAL
The more trivial functions (translation, codon usage analysis, dot plot,
local and global blast, primer handling, design and ordering, searching with
complex search strings, etc.) have been continuously de-bugged and
optimised.
HELP
As usual both the web manual and the context sensitive help is lagging quite
a bit behind the program. Perhaps in the future...
REGISTRATION
You can still use dnatools free of charge provided that you renew your
registration every four months - after the free 4-month trial period has
expired.
