electronic labbook?

Hi all,

Is anyone aware of a (Macintosh) software solution of keeping an
electronic labbook? I'm talking about keeping a portable computer on the
bench and entering data directly (numerical, gif/jpeg etc) into one
integrated package. I imagine an interface that starts like a calander,
but allows you to zoom into a single day in as much detail as you like,
inserting tables, gifs, scanned gel images and notes in a flexible
format. Also, it might let you track projects over multiple days. I have
seen Gene Inspector 1.5 from http://www.textco.com/index.html and it
does look like its close to what I'm after, but the price is pretty
high, and I already have sequence analysis software in the lab.

I guess a template for a relational database, like Filemaker Pro might
be appropriate. Is anyone using something like that?

Steve
