CAP is available with various Windows software (eg BioEdit from
http://www.mbio.ncsu.edu/RNaseP/info/programs/BIOEDIT/page1.html), but it
runs as a "DOS box", or whatever the Win2K equivalent is called. CodonCode
(http://www.phrap.com/) have a 30 uses trial version of Phred/Phrap and a
commercial version. If you're dealing with a lot of sequence (eg genome
assembly), you'll need a reasonably powerful PC.
A commercial port of Staden for Windows is supposed to be on the way-anyone
have news on this?
