The Roslin Institute is the major UK centre for research on farm animal
genetics and has extensive genome research programmes.
INFORMATICS FOR ANIMAL GENOME ANALYSIS
The Institute's Bioinformatics Group develops databases and applications
for use within the Institute and by the wider international genome
community (see http://www.ri.bbsrc.ac.uk/bioinformatics/). Expansion of
the Institute's genome research means that we have openings for computing
scientists to join the group.
APPLICATION DEVELOPER/PROGRAMMERS
Applicants with a background in computing are encouraged to apply.
Candidates with bio-science backgrounds with a proven ability to develop
computing solutions will also be considered. Bioinformatics experience
would be an advantage, but is not essential.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in database and
Internet/Intranet based development particularly LIMS or high throughput
genomic analysis systems. Skills and working knowledge of Java, XML,
CORBA, Perl, CGI or RDBMS are desirable.
Starting salary from circa #15,000 to #22,000 per annum, depending on
qualifications and experience.
