The first version of DNA strider was distributed from person to
person (at meetings, etc.), but freely. It was a condition
by the author that it not be distributed electronically (that
was ages before the "web" but Internet ftp was available then).
Later verisons became for-pay. I don't know what its distrubtion
status is now, but don't think any version is available thru
any Internet server for free.
