Programmer Wanted: DNA Learning Center, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, NY

The DNA Learning Center, an educational unit of the world-renowned Cold
Spring Harbor Laboratory, offers a range of programs and instructional
materials in DNA science targeting several educational levels.	We
currently seek a talented and motivated entry-level programmer to join
our Educational Informatics & BioMedia group.  This group develops
interactive products and content using a new class of network-based
collaboration and visualization tools. It also explores producing
specialized programming delivered via broadband networking technologies.

The successful candidate will be a recent college graduate who combines a
background in education and/or molecular biology with an excellent
command of internet tools including: HTML coding, NSAPI/MSIIS Scripting,
JavaScript and C programming, web development, and the Windows NT
environment. Additional skills in Java, UNIX, and Mac are desirable. Job
duties will include developing the Learning Center's Internet presence,
building Internet applications to interface with host and client server
applications and databases, and adapting genomic analysis and
visualization tools to the educational arena.

Candidates must be technically flexible and comfortable with rapid
prototyping and frequent user interaction in a team that includes
laboratory scientists, a genetics content expert, a science educator, and
a graphics designer.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory employs more than 560 persons including 180
Ph.D.s/M.D.s and 54 graduate students. There are currently 37 countries
